AI technologies have revolutionized the way we consume and create multimedia products. E.g., supporting users to find their desired music, movies, and news by recommendation techniques; and generating graphics by adversarial networks based techniques. Following the vision of Augmenting Human Intellect, mixed-initiative interaction (MII) is crucial to a human-centered AI system that does not only rely on system intelligence but also allows users to realize their full potential to achieve their goals. In this talk, I will present how we design a conversational user interface and an AR user interface to enable mixed-initiative interaction with music recommendations and advertisements. Besides, I will show an interactive system that automates the iteration process of graphic design and aims to support designers' creativity by exploring design variations in terms of visual features such as color and layout.

Yucheng Jin is working as a senior researcher at Lenovo Research. He is a lead UX designer for building Moli - a smart chatbot for the customer service of Lenovo. He has won several awards for his excellent performance in research and design such as Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 2019 at KU Leuven. His research interests are recommender system user interfaces, conversational interfaces, Interactive AI systems. His research outcomes have been published at premier venues of recommender systems such as RecSys, CIKM, UMUAI. Besides, he acts as a member of the program committee for the ACM Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces, and the ACM Recommender Systems Conference.
