HKBU Team Clinches First Prize in Computing Track at Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025

The award ceremony brings together over 200 participants to celebrate participants’ remarkable achievements.
The event is organised by Huawei and supported by 13 local tertiary institutions. Dr. Amelie Zhou, Assistant Professor of the Department, represents HKBU to receive the Contribution Award.


The Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 recently concluded its award ceremony at Cyberport on 7 December 2024. This year’s competition featured three main tracks: Cloud, Computing, and Artificial Intelligence, attracting over 900 participants to explore emerging technologies.

The HKBU team, consisting of Chen Xinyu (BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, Year 2), Li Yixiang (MSc in Information Technology Management, Year 1), and Chan Ka Wing (Bachelor of Business Administration, Year 2), achieved a significant milestone in the Computing Track, which assessed participants’ expertise in areas such as openEuler, openGauss, and Kunpeng. Their collaborative efforts earned them First Prize in the Computing Track, showcasing their exceptional skills in computer science and innovative applications of cutting-edge technologies.

The Huawei ICT Competition, organised by Huawei, provides a vibrant platform for ICT talent exchange. This initiative aims to foster sustainable development within the ICT talent ecosystem and enhance collaboration between industry and tertiary institutions. The champion teams from each track will represent Hong Kong to compete in the Asia-Pacific regional competition.
