The Department of Computer Science continues to establish its presence in the international scientific landscape. This year, a total of ten faculty members have been acknowledged for their exceptional research contributions, with seven featured in the “Career-Long Impact List” and eight in “Single-Year Impact List.” This recognition places them among the World’s Top 2% most-cited scientists, according to the latest list released by Stanford University.
Professor Jianliang Xu, Head of the Department, extends his heartfelt congratulations to the outstanding faculty members. “Our faculty members' unwavering commitment has not only elevated research excellence on the global stage but also strengthened HKBU’s position internationally,” he stated.
The rankings, compiled by the research team led by Professor John Ioannidis, are based on the “Updated Science-wide author databases of standardised citation indicators”. This list features top 100,000 scientists, based on their career-long citation impact (until the end of 2023) and single-year citation impact (2023). Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The rankings are calculated based on standardised information on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
